Ethos & Aims

Our Ethos

The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ school has a happy, family atmosphere. We give each child every opportunity to realise their potential through academic achievement and by engaging in activities which build their confidence and develop character.

Our Values

A warm family atmosphere
Our principle ‘Happy Children Learn’ sums up the warm and caring relationships which support our unique educational and developmental experience, encouraging children to be curious and inquisitive, take calculated risks and make mistakes, yet still have the courage and self-assurance to have another try. At the end of their ºìÐÓÊÓƵ journey, pupils leave us inspired with a love of learning, a strong sense of self-worth and eager to engage with the world in which they live.

The pursuit of excellence
Whilst we are unashamedly non-selective, academic standards are very high. All staff are dedicated to inspiring and drawing out the best in every child, whatever their strengths.

A generosity of heart
The School motto ‘Love God, Love Thy neighbour’ guides the way we work together as a loving and supportive community, fostered by the House structure and smaller House families.

A robust vitality
Our values of kindness, respect, honest, resilience and courage lie at the heart of all that we do. With these values at our core, and in offering a balanced, yet broad and stimulating curriculum, the children are provided constantly with opportunities to develop into confident and independent young people. Above all, we wish for our leavers to be open-minded, tolerant and full of conviction, to have a clear sense of right and wrong, and to adapt and persevere to reach their personal best, while supporting those around them with kindness.

Our Aims

All children are eager to learn.  In order to develop this enthusiasm, children need confidence in their own ability.  In striving to promote children’s confidence, The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ recognises four core pillars. All pupils should have the opportunity to work and play in an environment which enables them to reach their potential through the following aims:

1. Academic Achievement

  • to ensure pupils of all abilities reach their potential through high quality learning, supported by inspiring and dedicated staff.
  • to maintain excellent academic standards through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum and well-resourced classes.

2. Breadth of Opportunity

  • to provide a rich programme of creative arts, sport, trips and extra-curricular activities that offer challenge and opportunity to every child.
  • to give every child an opportunity to challenge themselves and try new things in order that they may develop character strengths that promote the willingness to embrace change.

3. Pastoral Care

  • guided by our motto 'Love God, Love Thy Neighbour' we wish to create an atmosphere in which children feel safe, happy and valued as individuals, and where values of care and consideration, generosity and respect are actively encouraged.
  • to work in partnership with parents and to encourage them to play a full and active role in their child's education and in the life of the School.

4. Social Responsibility

  • to foster a sense of responsibility within society, developing in pupils a willingness to participate, lead and shape the future.
  • to engage with and contribute to the local community through a variety of projects and activities that enrich the lives of all.
