Extra-Curricular Life

Children benefit from a full range of extra-curricular opportunities which promote all-roundedness and excellence. We value the learning and experiences that such opportunities provide and a carefully planned programme of activities, workshops and trips is implemented starting with our youngest children in The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Nursery right through to Year 8 at the top of the School.

Children begin to take part in After School Clubs when reaching Reception. After School Clubs provide a secure and stimulating environment for pupils to play, learn and interact. Activities include arts and craft, cooking, construction toys, computers, games and puzzles, role play, sports and team games, and pupils make full use of the outdoor play areas.  As a child moves through the School, the range of clubs is expanded to include activities such as roller skating, musical groups, judo and chess. Older pupils have the opportunity to sample STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Club, Debating, Survival and Conservation amongst others.

Workshops begin at an early age and we regularly welcome visitors to complement classroom learning throughout the School with a wide variety of talks. Pupils in the Lower School are regularly taken to visit the animals on the adjacent smallholding and all pupils experience the wealth of learning opportunities provided by our woodland classroom and surroundings. For the older pupils, events such as author visits, Samba workshops, Science Shows and inspirational speakers all feature regularly on the calendar.

A wide range of educational visits also adds to our enrichment programme. Annual trips such as Hever Castle, Drusilla’s Zoo, Hobbledown Farm, the Sea Life Centre, Fishbourne Roman Villa, Winchester Science Museum and Legoland are enjoyed by all pupils.

Residential experiences are offered to all year groups in the Upper School, both at home and abroad, and these play an important part in social development. Year 5 begins the year with a three day team building stay at PGL Liddington. A week in Angers , visiting their French pen friends as well as experiencing a real taste of French life is hugely enjoyed by our Year 6 pupils. In Years 7 and 8, as well as Sports Tours on offer to Jersey and Dubai, there is a Geography field trip to Exmoor and a watersports holiday in France as the Year 8 Leavers’ Trip.

"In the last 5 years we have watched all our boys grow and develop and push themselves beyond anything any of us realised they could do and that is because of the opportunities ºìÐÓÊÓƵ have given them."
