Is History just a record of what has happened in the past? It is in reality a mixture of fact and fiction illustrating how varied and colourful the History of Britain is. This helps us to foster an understanding of who we are creating a cultural identity in both individuals and the nation. History has a fundamental relevance to our modern society and it is important for both children and adults to actively explore the past.

We are all naturally curious and taking an interest in the past is something that can be taken in to adulthood on any level from a greater understanding of our own families to the country that provides our employment. Whilst learning History at school it provides key skills that can be used in many fields outside of History.

The aim therefore is to give children and interest and enthusiasm for History thereby making them lifelong historians.
