It is a privilege to lead The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ and I am very proud of the education we offer our children. As a day school for 6 months to 13-year-olds, our happy, nurturing environment encourages children to be curious and inquisitive, take calculated risks and make mistakes, yet still have the courage and self-assurance to persevere. At the end of their ºìÐÓÊÓƵ journey, pupils leave us inspired with a love of learning, a strong sense of self-worth and eager to engage with the world in which they live.
The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ' academic curriculum is broad and balanced, sets high standards and gives opportunity for all children to excel. Dedicated teachers create high expectations and small class sizes allow them to work hard with each pupil to help them achieve success in a wide variety of areas. A wonderful programme of sport and extensive opportunities in Art, Music, Drama and Design & Technology gives every child the opportunity to enjoy their creativity, perform, feel sporty and compete, thus developing a confidence for life.
Children successfully pass onto a wide range of academically selective day and boarding senior schools, with our leavers gaining offers from approximately 20 different senior schools each year. We are proud to be a non-selective, inclusive school and our skill in supporting parents in finding the right senior school for their child to flourish at is an essential part of our education. As part of the Caterham Family of Schools, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ pupils looking to transfer to Caterham senior school can do so without sitting an external exam, removing what can be a source of stress for some. Families wishing to apply to all other senior schools will continue to be fully supported and their children prepared for success at their choice of senior school. We always gain a glow of satisfaction when we see our Old Hawthornians happy at their senior school and gaining outstanding academic, music, art and sporting achievements.
Most importantly, children are loved, feel secure and learn from both their mistakes and their endeavours. Laughter and energy abound as boys and girls, teachers and staff make the most of school life.
Do come and visit The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ and see for yourself. It will be a pleasure to share our School and more of its work with you and your child.
