Art
Art at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is taught by a qualified specialist. The Art room is well equipped with a broad range of materials and resources, including a kiln and computers used for Digital Art, enabling every child to find their own individual strength.
Pupils are challenged to express themselves, take risks and to appreciate different cultures. They are taught a wide range of skills which challenge and stimulate creativity. Many topics are closely linked to other areas of the curriculum, such as Science, History and English literature forging the link between Art and other subjects to expand and enhance the pupils' progression and learning even further.
The Philosophy of the Art Department is based around a teaching strategy of “high challenge and low threat”, making Art lessons accessible for all. Vibrant artwork is enjoyed in displays around the school and Art room, reflecting the pupil’s enthusiasm for the subject and to inspire others. The department has a reputation for outstanding work, with many pupils achieving scholarships to a range of senior schools.
