Our Dining Hall, built as the Billiards Room for the Macleay family and later converted to a chapel for the resident Wantage Sisters, offers a unique setting for your civil ceremony. Natural light floods the room through the stone-mullioned windows, in front of which couples exchange their vows. Your guests can enjoy post-ceremony drinks on the front lawn, where the historic Grade II-listed Pendell Court provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs. In winter, the roaring fire in the Front Hall makes a magical centrepiece.

  • The Dining Hall can accommodate up to 80 guests for the civil ceremony or a wedding breakfast.
  • More intimate rehearsal dinners can take place in the Macleay Room, which seats up to 40 guests.
  • Hidden away from all your guests, our Board Room offers complete privacy, ensuring your dress remains top secret until the very last moment.

Outdoor Wedding Venue

Our beautiful grounds provide an incredible natural canvas for an outdoor wedding. Our Rose Arbour is licensed for civil ceremonies. For those dreaming of an outdoor celebration, options abound—from the rustic romance of a lakeside sail to an elegant pagoda or a stylish marquee. With a backdrop of Pendell Court set alongside glorious woodland and rolling green hills, you have all the ingredients for a truly magical setting. Decorate with fairy lights, and you can dance the night away under a canopy of twinkling stars!

The Brereton

The first Pendell Court love story

Pendell Court has been a place of love and devotion since its very beginning. In 1625, Robert Holman and Anne Brereton became the first couple to build a family within its walls, following the sad passing of Robert’s father, George, just one year after he completed the manor house.

Barely more than newlyweds, Robert, at just 23 and Anne, only 18 embarked on their new life together. Though they lived through the turbulent reign of King Charles I and the subsequent Civil War, their love remained steadfast, filling the manor with warmth and laughter as they raised their five children.

Their love story is forever etched into the heart of Pendell Court, their portraits hang above the grand fireplace in the Front Hall—a timeless reminder that true love endures.

With the Brereton package, Pendell Court is exclusively yours for a morning or afternoon for an intimate ceremony and celebration. The perfect way to focus on connecting with your guests.

The St Clair Innes

True love remembers

When Sir George Macleay purchased Pendell Court in 1878, he poured his heart into its restoration. As an explorer and naturalist, the Macleay Room’s intricate plasterwork ceiling reflects his passion for zoology and botany, but its most profound tribute is to love itself. Though his wife, Barbara St Clair Innes had passed nearly a decade before, her presence endures. Above the fireplace, their coats of arms rest side by side—a quiet, eternal tribute to the love that shaped his heart.

With Pendell Court exclusively yours for a day and evening, the St Clair Innes package includes everything you need to have a perfect, stress free memorable day with an event manager, event staffing, equipment hire and a paying bar for the evening.
