Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education is a vital part of the children’s learning providing them with skills, knowledge and memories that will stay with them throughout their lives. Starting in the Lower School, children have the opportunity to take part in Forest School, bringing them out of the classroom to learn through play and discovery in our school woodland and grounds. From using natural resources to create woodland crafts, to tool use and using a fire steel to create a spark, not only does this develop their practical skills, powers of observation and desire to protect the natural world in which they live, but also builds confidence, develops their mind and body, and encourages positive social interactions.

As your child grows, Outdoor Learning continues to be embedded in the curriculum, making the most of the wonderful setting of The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ. Conservation lessons show children the basics of how and why we manage the grounds, as well as the practical skills required to do this, from gardening through to woodland management and outdoor cooking. The wide variety of projects that children are involved in will not only benefit the environment around them, but also provide inspiration in other curriculum areas and a deep understanding of the importance of the natural world which will stay with them on their walk through life.
