Little Designers in the making

Thu 04 Jun 2026

This week, our Nursery children have been exploring the many different jobs that help our school community thrive and their focus has been on the world of teaching.

They were especially excited to visit Miss Townley, our Head of Design & Technology, who welcomed them into the D&T workshop and where they got to try on one of the PPE visors and look at the small saws, as well as the 3D printer which was printing at the time. They then visited the textiles classroom next door for a behind-the-scenes look at Miss Townley's creative workspace.

The children loved getting demonstrations of the specialist tools and equipment used in textiles, and getting to see different types of fabrics materials used for designing and creating. Their curiosity was endless, they asked thoughtful questions and were fascinated to learn how each tool plays an important role in bringing ideas to life.

It was a brilliant opportunity for them to discover new skills, understand different professions within school, and learn why safety is so important when working with real design equipment.

A big thank you to Miss Townley for inspiring our young learners and giving them a glimpse into the creative world of D&T.
