Earlier this year ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, Bletchingley launched a petition to lower the speed limit on Pendell Road from the national speed limit to 40mph.
Working alongside local neighbours, the School endeavoured to increase fields of vision through cutting hedges and verges where possible, however as cars continued traveling at speeds of up to 60mph an unacceptable number of accidents continued to occur.
The petition welcomed over 450 signatures and was presented at a local planning meeting by Headmaster Adrian Floyd and three pupils Sabina Simpson, Connor Rook and Christopher Vassou,. Supported by county councillor for Godstone, Helena Windsor, the petition was a resounding success and the speed limit has been reduced to 40mph.
The School continues to work in partnership with the county council to make this road safer and have offered to join a community speedwatch scheme now that the speed limit has been approved.
