What a season it's been for our 1st XV Rugby squad! The boys have been absolutely brilliant, kicking off their campaign back in November with six straight victories – a fantastic achievement we're all incredibly proud of. These impressive wins came against Hazelwood, Worth, Cottesmore, Sevenoaks, Somerhill and The New Beacon.
The 1st XV coach, Mr Duggan, reflected on the season: "It's been wonderful to watch the team grow in confidence with each match. Their defensive play has come on leaps and bounds, now matching their exciting ability to attack from anywhere on the pitch. The stats speak for themselves: forty tries scored and just thirteen conceded – impressive stuff!
"Some nail-biting encounters against Cottesmore, Sevenoaks and The New Beacon really put the boys' character to the test, and they rose to every challenge. Yes, there were moments when fortune smiled on them, but the real hallmark of this season has been their brave, attacking style of rugby that's been a joy to watch."
Headteacher Adrian Floyd was full of praise for the squad: "The boys have developed as a team and are beginning to back each other when the chips fall – as they inevitably will from time to time! Sometimes it is what we do when we are off the ball or even after we make a mistake that counts more in rugby. What a fantastic team and a great sport! It has been a splendid achievement and I am delighted for the boys and Mr Duggan."
As we look ahead to the Rugby 7's season, we're excited to see what this talented group can achieve next. Here's to more thrilling, free-flowing rugby and continued success!
