It is always pleasing to see ºìÐÓÊÓƵ pupils enjoying friendly athletics competition, striving to beat their personal bests, or for the most talented, break school records however, Sports Day at The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is about much more than times or a distance. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy and celebrate children’s endeavours in the widest sense. To see and congratulate children on running a race to the end, despite a lost shoe, a trip or even despite a feeling that someone can do something better than you.
This year, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ staff were determined to enable pupils and parents alike to enjoy a traditional Sports Day on the Front Pitch. With the extension of government guidelines restricting gatherings of more than 30 until at least July 19th, the whole school Sports Day had to be cancelled but, thanks to the 'can do' attitude and flexibility of staff, in its place ten mini Sports Days were hosted, one per school bubble. Parents were invited to watch and cheer along from designated areas, in school House groups of no more than 30.
Each child, from Rainbow Nursery to Year 8 took part in a field event rotation followed by races on the track. All ten events had a wonderful atmosphere, and we are very proud of all the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ children who tried their best, never gave up, who encouraged each other and took part with great determination.

The Years 7&8 Sports Day ended with the traditional tug-of-war and one last opportunity for our Year 8 to work as a team with their House mates. The determination and good spirited competition amongst good friends was fantastic to see. Well done to the winners, Glennie.
And congratulations to Fiennes House, declared overall winners of the Straker Cup after the final Sports Day!
Our sincere thanks go to the teachers and the Games department, and in particular Mrs Davies, Mr Murphy and Mr Morris. Their 'can do' attitude and flexibility has ensured the children have gained from the experience as a result.
