As part of our People Who Help Us topic, our Nursery children enjoyed a fantastic week of firefighter-themed learning, culminating in a very special visit from Godstone Firefighters.
The children were incredibly excited when the firefighters arrived, and it was wonderful to see them so engaged. They loved exploring the fire engine up close, hearing the sirens and learning all about what firefighters do to keep us safe. Everyone had plenty of questions and were eager to get a closer look at the equipment! The children talked about the visit long afterwards, confidently sharing what they had learned with their friends, a lovely opportunity to develop their speaking and listening skills and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
The visit was the grand finale of a week filled with firefighter-related activities across the Nursery. Children developed their independence by dressing themselves in firefighter costumes, engaged in imaginative make-believe play putting out fires, and created vibrant messy play artwork in bold fire colours. During Thursday's Forest School sessions, they also learnt about fire safety and enjoyed the wonderful experience of tasting pitta bread toasted over a real fire.
A huge thank you to the Godstone Firefighters for giving up their time to inspire and delight our young learners, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone!
This is just one of many highlights in our People Who Help Us topic, which has already seen a visit from a local Doctor and will continue next week with an exciting visit from our Postman.
