Pupils shine in Spring Term Inter-House Music Competition

Thu 02 Apr 2026

This year’s Inter-House Music Competition delivered not only outstanding performances but also a heart-warming moment that captured the spirit of our school community. As the results were announced and Weston House were crowned overall winners, their Year 8 pupils invited the entire year group to join them in singing their House song once more, a spontaneous gesture that perfectly reflected the camaraderie and togetherness the House system is designed to nurture.

The House system plays a central role in our pastoral care, helping pupils build friendships across year groups, strengthening their sense of belonging, and offering leadership opportunities for the older pupils as House Captains and House Family Leaders. For our Year 8 pupils, this event marked their final Inter-House Music Competition, making the occasion especially meaningful.

This year, each House performed a song from a well- loved musical, and alongside the group performances, individual pupils had the chance to shine. There was no set theme for soloists; instead, pupils volunteered to audition within their Houses, with one performer selected from Years 3–4, 5–6, and 7–8.

Weston’s victory was well deserved, but the real triumph of the day was the sense of unity and celebration shared by all Houses. The sight of Year 8 pupils standing together, singing, smiling, and marking their final competition as a cohort was a fitting finale to a much-loved school tradition.
