On Thursday 28th September, the School was alive with rhythm and rhyme as we celebrated National Poetry Day with a series of activities.
During House Assemblies, staff performed a Roald Dahl poem to a slightly bemused but appreciative audience. Pupils in the Pre-Prep also enjoyed a fabulous poetry assembly in which they read out poems they had created together. A poetry quiz in the library proved popular whilst during lunch, the teachers kept the children entertained by performing their favourite poems! Able and talented pupils enjoyed a 'poetry masterclass' delivered by Hannah Wildsmith from Caterham School. They explored this year's National Poetry Day theme of 'Freedom' through a series of poems, culminating in writing their own poems.
However, the highlight was the inaugural 'Poetry X Factor' which proved popular as pupils performed poems in front of our guest panel of judges hoping to win the coveted 'Poetry X Factor' trophy! Well done to all the children who took part - we were royally entertained!
