RobinStevens3Robin Stevens, author of the popular ‘Murder Most Unladylike’ series, visited The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ this week to inspire the pupils to read and write murder mystery stories. Robin read avidly as a child, enjoying the adventures of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five and various murder mystery authors including Agatha Christie. Originally from California, her parents moved to England when she was young and she grew up in an Oxford college and attended a girls’ boarding school. These experiences inspired her stories which are set mainly in a boarding school in the 1930s. Robin has also just published a different kind of mystery book, ‘The Guggenheim Mystery’ which is a sequel to the acclaimed ‘The London Eye Mystery’ written by the late Siobhan Dowd.

After explaining her background to the pupils they were invited to take part in a mini murder mystery plot outline. They were able to suggest a setting (Buckingham Palace), a victim (the President of the US), a suspect (the Prime Minister) and various clues including a handkerchief, a button and a lipstick! We would like to assure everyone that the plot is entirely fictional! Robin finished the session by signing over 100 books which are now being keenly read by everyone.
