After months of hard work, research, and some seriously impressive dedication, the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ' LEGO Robotics Team took on the First LEGO League Regional Tournament at the STEM Centre, Gatwick Airport. The result? They were over the moon to be awarded the Core Values trophy for their innovation, teamwork, and commitment to inclusion!
This year's challenge, themed 'Submerged', pushed teams to think outside the box. The mission? To design, build, and program a LEGO robot that could lift, grab, and place objects in a series of exciting tasks—all while using creativity and critical thinking to solve real-world problems.
Spending countless lunchtimes in the Computing lab, the team of ten talented Year 5-8 pupils brought their creation, 'ScubaDave', to life. But they didn’t stop there—they dove deep into two key presentations, one about their robot design and the other showcasing their innovative ideas for coral reef restoration. As if that wasn’t enough, they even 3D-printed their own coral reef pieces to add an extra layer of realism!
On the big day, our team had an absolute blast competing against 14 other schools, racing against the clock to complete the tasks while impressing the judges with their robot, coding skills, and innovative project. The icing on the cake? Their well-deserved Core Values trophy, made entirely of LEGO, and a whole lot of smiles to take home.
