Reflection upon Remote Working

Mon 29 Jun 2020

We were delighted to be able to welcome all children back into school during the Summer Term, with Ark, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 returning on 1 June, followed by the remaining year groups a few weeks later.

During lockdown, the children's education continued with subject specialist teachers and form tutors delivering a full curriculum and pastoral support online.

Thank you so much for all the very hard work your teachers are all putting in with the live lessons, it is very appreciated! My son loved seeing and speaking to his teacher.

Whilst structure is important for children's wellbeing, we recognised that learning from home would not always be straightforward, with multiple family members sharing space and parents needing to work and supervise children simultaneously. Each year group from Reception upwards therefore had a timetable of live lessons mixed with tasks set daily that could be fitted in with parent's work and their family schedule. Over 90,000 pieces of work were posted by pupils during lockdown on our industry leading online learning platform, Seesaw, and a similar number of pieces of constructive feedback were posted by teachers.

Engaging, enthusiastic and professional are just three words (of potentially many!) that we could use to describe The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ attitude to learning and pastoral care over recent times. An 'A**' performance of tenacity and determination as we all sail into these unchartered waters.

Pastoral care is at the centre of a ºìÐÓÊÓƵ education. A daily live Form Time session allowed Form Teachers to maintain close contact with children, whilst weekly PE challenges and lessons encouraged children to take regular exercise and practice skills. A recorded weekly assembly encouraged children to focus on the School values of kindness, respect, courage, honesty and resilience.
